Our client is a technology company, making commercially driven investments into broadband­enabling infrastructure throughout Africa. By investing in internet infrastructure and making it available to local service providers, our client helps bring high­quality broadband access to Africa’s large cities.

About the position

You will be leading efforts to grow the business by identifying and capturing opportunities, such as new products in current markets, and new countries for expansion. You will identify key stakeholders, build relationships in the ecosystem, and understand market dynamics to help our cient grow and expand. You are able to bridge technical and business worlds to lead product development efforts. You have a bias for action and can break down complex problems into steps that help drive management decision at the speed required in fast­paced markets.

 

Responsibilities:

 

     Research, build and maintain relationships with key partners

 

     Identify/evaluate opportunities. Perform analysis and present compelling and insightful recommendations on specific opportunities to help achieve our client’s growth objectives

     Work with cross­functional teams to help structure and execute key partnerships

 

     Develop partnership strategy based on understanding of industry landscape and trends

 

     Play an active role as an interface to our customers and stakeholders, especially with regards to group­level interactions and C­level relationships

     Create products that address market needs; lead cross­functional teams throughout the process, from ideation to product development, business case approval, and launch

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

     BA/BS degree. In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience

 

     2 years minimum in business development or similar experience

 

     Strong understanding of the telecommunication (mobile and fixed) industry in SSA

 

     Extensive experience in partner management, product management or product marketing in a technology environment

     In­depth experience operating within and leading cross­functional teams (product management, implementation, legal, finance, marketing, etc.)

     Proficiency in spoken and written English


Preferred Qualifications:

 

     MBA or graduate degree in a management, technical, or engineering field

 

     Strong understanding of the SSA telecom market, and adjacent businesses (e.g., media)

 

      Experience in wireless or fixed communication either as a vendor, operator, or consultant

 

     Current knowledge of 3G/4G technologies and fiber optics networks

 

     Ability to think strategically about complex issues and develop thoughtful recommendations and action plans

     Experience identifying partners, analyzing and structuring complex deal structures with a track record of deal negotiation and execution

     Ability to interpret legal documents, and work with attorneys to complete agreements

 

     Distinctive analytical skills; superior ability to work with and present to various audiences, from frontline engineering staff to C­suite level executives

     Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to formulate and articulate contractual, technical, financial and value points with partners and internal our client’s teams

     Proficiency in French, Spanish or Portuguese is a plus
