Our client a key player in the oil and gas industry is seeking to recruit a qualified Community Liaison Officer, to develop and execute a Stakeholder Engagement Plan, manage compliance with the project’s social performance standards and its social impact, as well as maintaining effective communication between the organization and the community at all times. 

The Community Liaison Officer will be the main point of contact for the community and therefore will act as the interface between the organization and the community at large.  He/ she will also work with and support the community to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities & Tasks:
  • Preparing and delivering high quality marketing collateral and stakeholder communications material.
  • Identifying all key stakeholders in the organization and conducting analysis of level of involvement with the community.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of an appropriate Community Investment Plan, in consultation with the communities and/or relevant stakeholders.
  • Providing support with a range of community and stakeholder events including presentations, street meetings, information sessions, open days, public displays and stakeholder briefings.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and communities.
  • Enhancing organizational reputation and promoting strategic objectives.
  • Providing strategic communication support to key stakeholders to assist in managing the role.
  • Maintaining the project enquiry database for the community.
  • Developing and distributing work notifications and other key project communication materials.
  • Developing presentations and social media tools that promote effective public awareness.
  • Promoting and facilitating effective internal communication and cooperation.
  • Ensuring the appearance and integrity of the organization brand that is endorsed throughout the community.
  • Providing strategic communication support to key stakeholders.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of an appropriate Community Investment Plan, in consultation with the communities and/or relevant stakeholders.
 Requirements:
  • University Degree or equivalent in Sociology, Anthropology, or relevant Social Science Degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience in working with a broad range of stakeholders and communities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Experience in liaising with non-governmental organizations and the media would be an additional advantage.
  • Experience in managing and monitoring potential social risks and impacts.
  • Good writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer (Micro-soft packages) skills.
  • Ability to speak and write fluent English and any other local language.
